Ministries at St Francis
Small Groups
Bible study, prayer, and a snack... what could be better?!? The goal of our Small Groups at St Francis Episcopal is "Study & Prayer. Service & Care." Currently, our Small Groups are enjoying and learning from the "That the World May Know" video series. Produced by Focus on the Family, this series follows historian and theologian Ray Vanderlaan and his tour group around the Holy Land. The text of the Bible really comes to life through this exciting course! There is always room for one more to join our Small Groups and plans for other excited studies are in the works for the summer. Call the church office for more information.
Sunday School
We offer Sunday School for all ages Sunday mornings at 9:00 am. Adults are currently doing a book study on the book, "How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth" by Gordon Fee and Douglas Stuart. Young adult Sunday School learns each Sunday about the mighty men and women who have gone before us. Sunday School for younger children focuses on Bible stories, crafts and fun music!
Prayer
Prayer is an essential part of every Christian's life as we seek to follow Jesus. All are welcome to join us Tuesday - Friday at 4 pm for afternoon prayers. We use The Book of Common Prayer as our guide and offer prayers for the parish family, the community, and the world at large.
Frank's Friends
Frank's Friends is a free monthly kids club where children ages 6-12 make cool crafts, sing fun songs, do neat activities, hear amazing stories, and share yummy snacks! We meet every 3rd Saturday during the school year from 10am to noon. Come along and bring a friend!
Outreach
We are involved in and support Somerset Area Ministries, The Boys and Girls Club, and the Somerset County Humane Society. We host free community events - a Community Picnic Dinner, Easter Egg Hunt, and Outdoor Movie. We volunteer to transport leftover produce from the Farmer's Market to area food pantries and shelters. Additionally, we commit 10% of our collection to support a variety of local, regional, and national/international charitable and spiritual organizations. These are just a few of the growing ways St Francis Episcopal is committed to loving God and neighbor.
Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
"Empowering Women to do Christ's ministry in the world." St Francis Episcopal Church has a very active ECW! We balance spirituality and outreach with fellowship and fun. Our yearly May Tea raises funds for Rwandan orphans. We maintain a fund to assist families in need. And we meet the first Tuesday of the month at 6:30 pm for prayer, fellowship, and specials programs - ranging from flower arranging, to missions, even a yearly Christmas tale.
